Review of Aurora Video VCD/SVCD/DVD Converter&Creator
This oversimple DVD-authoring package offers three tools necessary for making a basic video disc: a video converter, a menu creator, and a burner. Aurora Video VCD/SVCD/DVD Converter&Creator's converter can only handle AVI and MPEG formats, but it lets you output video in AVI and various flavors of MPEG: VCD, SVCD, and DVD.

Review of MPEG Converter
Due to some stability problems and a stingy trial restriction, this video converter fails to win our kudos. The program converts video clips among the three most popular formats, which is to say AVI, MPEG, and WMV. The application's main window is clear-cut and straightforward, although you won't find settings for tweaking video quality until you press the Convert button.

Review of Cucusoft All Audio/Video to MP3/WAV Converter
If you need to create MP3s and WAVs from audio found in various video files, this utility handles the job with ease. We found the modern, jukebox-style interface attractive and easy to use. You can either extract audio from entire files or grab certain portions by selecting the starting and finishing points. You can't alter the audio quality or bit rate, but you will find a video preview screen for your reference. The conversion process is swift, though the trial version only allows you to extract one-third of any given file. If you can live with that restriction and a somewhat minimal feature set, we can recommend Cucusoft All Audio/Video to MP3/WAV Converter.

review of Corel DVD Copy
Corel proves that it's not happy to let new tech pass it by without a robust update to DVD Copy. The app has two primary functions: It can copy video files from one source to another, and it can convert files. It can also convert and then copy.

Review of MpegSoft Video Convert
For run-of-the-mill conversion, MpegSoft Video Convert can do the job, but the program is no standout. The start-up dialog box isn't the best introduction; it serves only as an advertisement, as far as we could tell.

Review of OSS Audio Converter Pro
A powerful audio file format-conversion tool, OSS Audio Converter Pro offers a treasure trove of tools for those willing to wade into the alphabet soup of digital sound.

Review of Videomaster
An integrated media viewer differentiates Videomaster from some of its video-conversion rivals. The installation takes some time. After loading an AVI, MPEG, or Flash video file, you select the format into which you want to convert it, whether it's AVI, Flash, or an animated GIF. Before starting the conversion, you can view the file through the program. Minimal editing functions let you grab and convert a scene from a longer clip. You select the location for the converted output, and pick from among 10 audio and video encoders. If you abort the conversion, the program makes an output file anyway.

Review of X-OOM Movies on PSP
More than just a nifty gaming platform, the Sony PSP makes a good portable video player. The only catch is Sony's proprietary media format. That's where X-OOM Movies on PSP comes in. It translates DVDs and video-media files into a format your PSP can use. After downloading and running the 28MB installer, we were a bit surprised to see the interface has only two buttons. The first lets you rip movies from DVDs. The second converts video files of various formats, including AVI, MPEG, WMV, and RM.

Review of Virtuosa
This media jukebox stands out in a crowded field. Its handy and attractive interface allows you to choose backgrounds, change the transparency of panels, and even tune the resolution of buttons. You can use music visualizations as backgrounds. Most operations take no more than one click. The tray icon lets you access basic controls without opening the main window. Virtuosa supports most music and video formats using plug-ins.
